The general saying is that Nigerian popular culture is informed by street culture. And Street Hop is a sound from Lagos, Nigeria that evolves as it moves between different neighbourhoods; creating new beats, themes and dance crazes as it goes.
In 2022, the fast rising Alaska based Nigerian American, SonOfUche released his version of Street Hop titled “SANKOLO“.
This comes shortly after his first single, “O HOLY NIGHT“, which was arguably the most played Christmas Medley on an international scale in 2021. A result of which saw him grow massive following on his social media platforms.
SonOfUche’s Street Hop SANKOLO is a reflection of a struggling youth on the streets who remains ambitious and hopeful in the midst of all the adversities.
